Florida at risk: maritime connectivity during the COVID-19 pandemic

We analyzed ship traffic during the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic with the goal of understanding the structure of the maritime network. We found a highly interconnected network with cargo vessels often visiting multiple ports and countries within the infectious period of COVID-19. This has potential implications for ship traffic as a route of long distance transmission for SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious diseases.
